Where
At the table. You may want to use aprons - this can get messy.
With what
A sheet of paper, paint or ink pads, small sponges or paint brushes, leaves and other objects you gathered in nature.
How
1. Take a leaf and apply paint to it with a sponge, without soaking it.
2. Press it firmly on the paper and try not to move it. Wait a few seconds.
3. Remove the leaf carefully to reveal the impression it made.
Tip: For best results, use the veined side of the leaf to make the impression
Try something else
Repeat the activity using stones, sticks, pine cones, or any other object from nature that inspires you.
Talk about it
- When a leaf falls from a tree, what trace does it leave behind?
- Can people also leave traces or impressions? How?
- Can some traces or impressions be invisible?
