Platero et moi

General public • Theatre version and intimate version

“Platero, if I throw myself into this well one day, it will not be to kill myself, believe me, but to catch the stars sooner.”

The company’s first creation, Platero et moi is an encounter between theatre, poetry, and classical music. On the stage, a classical guitarist and a narrator share with us the reflections of the poet as he observes daily human life accompanied by his donkey and turns his gaze toward beauty, friendship, and grief. Through these two bodies that have a single voice and tell the same story in their own way, we follow the poet and the donkey, two friends, along the winding roads of imagination.

The set is constructed with raw materials and textures, such as wood and metal. The central element becomes the tree, the symbol of our relationship with nature and the comfort we can find in it, the tree, the link between heaven and earth.

The show is available in a theatrical version and an intimate version, similar to a chamber music concert. It was created in 2009 at the Maison de la culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce in Montréal, and was performed on tour, in both its versions, until 2012, in theatres, concert halls, chapels, and private homes.

“Dear friend, Platero! If, as I think, you are now in a heavenly meadow carrying young angels on your furry back, have you perhaps forgotten me? Tell me Platero, do you still remember me?
And, as if to answer my question, a delicate white butterfly,
which I had not seen before, circled insistently, like a soul,
from lily to lily.”
